Hello, my name is Nicholas Cambio. My goal for college is to get my degree in aviation and become a pilot. I plan to work hard academically, as I have been doing in high school, to help me achieve this career goal. I also want to go to college because of the experience. I have been home-schooled and online educated my whole life and would like to have the chance to learn in person on a college campus. Academia aside, I love tennis! I love the game and I have loved both being on high school teams and playing in tournaments by myself. My goal is to play tennis in college to the highest level I can. My hope is to achieve the level of Division 1, and I am working hard training at least 3-4 times a week to improve my game enough to qualify.
I believe that I would be a good candidate for your team not only because of my skills but also for my work ethic and my character. I have devoted myself to tennis over the past few years and have had very few weeks where I don’t practice as much as I can. I train with not only my coach and other programs but with my friends when they have time as well as by myself. I often go to the courts by myself to hit serves, as well as practice footwork and strokes. I do this sometimes before practice just to get in extra work. I also try to stay after practice, usually with anyone who wants to hit, to get in more hours as well. I do all this to improve because I started tennis seriously in high school and I want to improve in as short a time as possible. My character is also something I care a lot about. I am a Christian and so my behavior is to represent Jesus. I strive to be respectful and encouraging to all my opponents, teammates, and coaches, win or lose. I even was voted team favorite for my high school team in 2023 because of my character and how I tried to always encourage and cheer my teammates on.
Another area where I believe I stand out is my academics, which are different due to my school being classical. It works on a 5.0 GPA and most of the courses are honors or dual enrollment. I have balanced getting good grades at this school while also working hard at tennis and I will continue this into college. My desire is to be the best student I can be, learn and grow in my chosen future career path, and play the game I love in college. Thank you for your consideration and have a blessed day.
