I have always been fast and athletically gifted, but I have never truly found my niche sport. I played hockey as a young child before moving to indoor soccer and baseball in elementary school. My junior high school years were interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. During covid, I took up body building in an effort to get stronger, bigger and faster. My efforts paid off and by the time I entered high school (in Canada that is grade 10) I started playing high school football and played on my high school football senior team this past fall. In grade 10 I competed in high school track and field for the first time and did very well in Javelin, discus, shot put and the 100 and 200m. I had little to no training as a sprinter or thrower, but in the summer of 2023 I won our provincial gold medal in Alberta in Javelin and Shot Put and placed top 3 in discus as well as placing in the top 8 in the 100 m with a sub 12 second 100 m time.
In the fall of 2023 I joined a track club, the St. Alberta Mustangs and trained as a multi- event athlete as well as working out with a personal trainer.
I have achieved PB of 13.52 m with the 6Kg 14 pound shot put as well as 48.02m with a senior Javelin this outdoor season.
In July of 2024 I completed my first Decathlon scoring 4553 despite have never had any opportunity to try pole vault before the event! I was able to jump 2.90 m (9 feet) first time attempting pole vault (although I am not sure if that is particularly impressive or not). I am confident that I can quickly improve the pole vault as I found it to be a lot of fun. I also struggled through the hurdles having never had exposure due to my recent injury but managed to complete the race. I plan to focus this upcoming winter on learning hurdles, pole vault and improving my endurance to bring my 1500 m time down a lot!
I have speed and strength and with the opportunity of regular training and coaching over the next year as a senior in high school, I expect to enter college with the ability to compete at a high level in several different track events as well as Decathlon / Heptathlon
I would love the chance to study at an undergraduate level at a good school and hope to focus on a environmental science or political science before moving on to study law at law school back in Canada.
Thanks for reading and I hope to meet you over the coming months.
