My name is James Brumley. I currently attend Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, California. I first took an interest in cross country in the summer prior to my freshman year of high school. I instantly fell in love with running because it's like no other sport I've ever played. I grew up playing competitive soccer nearly my entire life up until 9th grade. Unfortunately, I came upon the difficult decision of having to choose one sport over the other, but this is what allowed me to discover that running is my true passion. As I progressed farther into high school, I've come to learn that it takes it dedication, commitment, responsibility, and tenacity to succeed in this sport. While in some aspects of competitive running, you must work as a team in order to succeed, ultimately I've learned that it comes down to what you individually put into it. In other words, the times I put down exemplify the work I put into running. Furthermore, I not only believe I am individually qualified to succeed in collegiate level running, I truly think my ability to work as a team player and leader make me a great fit as well. I withhold a great understanding that one's success in collegiate level running depends on their efforts on and off the course, that is to say, my position on my team as a varsity athlete means nothing without an adequate GPA to back it up. From an academic standpoint, I am interested in pursuing business, with a concentration in marketing. I am very interested in attending a competitive D1 school that will allow me to further progress as a student and an athlete.
