-Potential/Aspirations: In the spring of Freshman year, I had raw talent without any form or strength. Since then, I have devoted my entirety to getting stronger and more efficient as a sprinter by joining SF Crossfit to do track specific olympic & powerlifting and Rivals United Track & Field Club with Coach Layman Reid to refine my running technique. My largest goal is to become the fastest Asian-American sprinter and to inspire others to never give up. Short term, I plan to break my PR's in the spring of 2015:
4x1m: 44.56 (School Record) --> 44.0 goal
100m: 11.18 (School Record) --> 10.8 goal
200m: 23.04 (2nd all time) --> 22.3 goal
400m: 52.0 (HT) --> 49.0
800m: Going to try this event to be a more diverse runner.

-Work Ethic/Determination: My tenacity is probably what sets me apart from most of my competitors. I work smart and hard whether I'm in the weight room, on the track, or in the classroom. My teachers, coaches and parents can attest to the amount of effort that I put in everyday.
-Mental Toughness: I have experience failing and succeeding at the highest levels in chess. My ability to bounce back and grow from my losses makes me the mentally tough athlete and student that I am today. Many other athletes have the pure physical talent, while I also have mental maturity. In soccer & track I have bounced back after suffering injuries and poor performances, and continue to grow each day.
-Pro activeness: At school I am proactive in meeting with teachers in order to succeed in challenging classes. Further, I am not afraid to ask questions in the classroom about how I can be doing better. On the track, I always have strong lines of communication with my coaches: they know how I am doing and I know what they expect from me. I am in constant discussion with my coaches about what I need to do to spend my time effectively in training.
-Leadership/Experience: I was the captain for my JV soccer team as a Freshman, my club soccer team and will be a Junior captain on my high school track team. I have gained the experience of leading my teammates because I respect my teammates and they respect me. My respect for others combined with the optimism that failures can be built on fosters my successful leadership and thus successful seasons.
