Personal Statement

As a young kid I was always the fastest at my grade and even faster than some of the older kids. But there was always one person I could never beat,  my uncle. He's only a few years older than me so we were always hangingout. We were always competing wether it was basketball, soccer,  football,  skateboarding,  or running. I could never beat him in anything and yet I kept trying. I got so competitive with him that one week that I asked him to race every single day. If the race was short he would beat me by a lot but if the race was longer I would nearly catch up to him every time.

Eventually I got into sixth grade and we were doing track. I wanted to impress the girls so I did jumps and ran the 800 meter. I was the fastest kid and could jump the farthest at my school, not by much though as my best friend KJ was always right behind me. Soon the sixth grade track meet came and I was ready to win everything. I raced in the 800 meter and got second with a 2 minutes and 38 seconds. Later I competed  in the long jump, jumping 13 feet and beating the kid who had beaten me in the 800 meter for the win. The last event I competed in was the 4×400. My team wasn't very good so when I finally got the baton we were in seventh place. On the anchor leg I brought us into third place to just barely medal. This showing of natural talent made me decide to try out track in middle school.

Running has really made me realize that life is too short to not enjoy it. I took running for granted and ended up injuring my back taking away almost my entire cross country season, eventually I returned just in time to make it to state but didn't meet any of the goals I had set for myself. It was devastating to see my all my hard work get undermined and seeing my friends  get faster without me.

As for right now I am working on graduating  from highschool, with college credits.  After highschool I would like to go into the biochemistry to learn how organic life reacts to foreign chemicals and unknown substances. I would eventually like to become a biochemist.
