I am an aggressive runner who runs “mean”. I ran track in Middle School but with the 2020 season cancelled, I took to baseball. In the shortened 2021 season, I only played baseball, but decided to do both baseball and track last year. I realized that track was my number one sport and fully turned my attention it and shined. I ran in the 4x200 relay that took 5th in IHSA Indoor State Competiton and 4th at the IHSA Outdoor State Competition. A back injury flared up in May which caused me to be pulled from the 4x100, but I would have been a member of our state medalist 4x100 team if not for that. My second time ever running the 300M Hurdles (with minimal practice because of playing two sports) I set the school record and ran in the low 42s. I was ranked 2nd in Sectionals, only behind the eventual state champ, but had to scratch him due to his back. I am fully healed and currently leading our state-ranked football team in rushing yards. I am ready to practice hurdles this year and I fully believe that I will be in the medal conversation this spring. I stepped up and did some high jump at a couple of meets to help win points and without attempting high jump since the 8th grade I cleared 5’8”. I ran a 400m to try out for the 4x400. Despite his back injury and running in practice without competition, I ran a 55 flat open 400. I have run over 21 mph on our FreeLap system in practice on my 10-yard fly's. Coach says, "he could be a pentathlon athlete. He is a unicorn!... Such a special talent! With Zane focusing on track as his number one sport this winter/spring, he is going to shine and showcase how awesome he really is!" My parents are even more proud because I have been a triple student athlete who has upheld a 4.462 GPA. I also recently received a peer leadership award at school.
