I grew up a sprinter. Throughout my life I was a sprinter. Then I was approached by the cross country coach about running cross country. So I decided to run cross country, and it was brutal. I almost quit about my third week into my freshman year. I am so glad I did not quit. I myself believe that I have had a successful high school career. Going from being the worst on my team to being the best. Winning 2 conference and Regional titles, and also being all- conference 2 years. My times have greatly improved from running my fastest freshman year at 19:32 to senior year 16:08. My greatest accomplishments of my running career have been in my senior year winning conference and regionals which had not been done since 2008 in the Mount Vernon program. The reason I believe those things happened is my leadership. My faith is a big part of my leadership skills. I love everyone on our team. Whether they are the top seven or not they are still running the workouts and still working hard. So it's more of a family than a team. That's the way it is supposed to be to me. A family not a team and a passion not a sport.
