My main goal for college is to find a track coach who will persistently condition, encourage, and believe in me. In return I will offer undivided attention to his/her knowledge, respect the coach(s), and will continually seek to triumph in both my academics and athleticism. I have a deep passion for track and have no problem asking, or giving, advice to people who share my passion. One of the main attributes that sticks out in me is my mindset. I am extremely focused and serious about improving my athleticism, but I know well when to laugh and have a good time before it becomes to much.
My best events are the 300m and 110m hurdle dashes, but I am open to try, or be a part of other events. I am realistic in my college choices and expectations. I realize I'm not capable of being accepted into a Division1 track team just yet, but that's okay with me. I know in my heart that as long as a coach believes in me; I'll be capable of running the times needed to be accepted into a Division1 team. The reason I believe that I'm capable of achieving Division 1 standard times in the future, is because of what I experienced my Junior year. When I ran track my Junior year in High-School, I thought that as long as I trained my hardest and believed in myself that I could break the 16 second mark for the 110m hurdles (I thought this was near impossible for me in Middle-School), so that's what I set out to do with no hurdle coach and a cinder track to train on.
I started the season with running times in the 17.5-18s range but this didn't bother me. I kept training. After about the fourth meet I participated in, I consistently began to receive times in the 16s range. This was great improvement, but i strived to break 16s. I researched hurdle tutorial videos on youtube and followed the advice that they had to offer. Pretty soon I was running in the low 16s range. By the end of the season I eventually broke the 16s mark and I was now running in the 15s range! I set a high goal for myself and achieved it. I once thought in Middle School that it was impossible for me to break 16s but I did it, and that's why I believe I can become capable of running Division 1 standard times.
