Personal Statement
My name is Brandon Teater and I am a hurdler/sprinter for Carmel High School. I am 6'2, 170 lbs and am in the Class of 2020. I am an extremely self-motivated athlete and student who is always looking to be the best on the track and in the classroom. I discovered track/hurdles in 8th grade and I quickly learned that it was something I had a passion for and wanted to be the best at.
The highlights of my high school career were being ranked the third fastest freshman 110m hurdler in the state of Indiana in 2017, making it to the USATF Junior Olympic nationals, and making it to the conference and regional finals as a sophomore and running a 15.01. However, I grew the most as an athlete and learned the most about myself during my junior year when I dealt with injury throughout the entirety of the season. Having injury get in the way of my goal of making it to the state finals and winning a medal forced me to dig deep within myself and perceiver mentally. I ended up running a personal best of 14.96 during sectionals of 2019 despite still struggling with my hamstring and coming off of very little training due to injury. Although that time is no where near the goals that I had set for myself coming into my junior year, it proved to me that with enough patients and perseverance I can accomplish anything. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically. I believe I have the talent, work-ethic, mindset, and character to compete in college and make a great impact on your team.
