My name is Jakob bertoline, I’m the class of ‘26 at Eastern High School in Greentown, Indiana and I’ve been running cross country since 6th grade and I ran track for 3 years. When I went to my very first cross country practice, I didn’t know what to expect because I wasn’t much of a runner and I was invited to do cross country by a friend who was on the cross country team. After my sixth grade year, my PR was a 17:30 3k, during the offseason, I was running a lot and when I started my seventh grade year, I was faster than last year and I was having fun running. After my seventh grade year, I dropped 3 minutes off my 3k from a 17:30 to a 14:23, but I still trained hard in the offseason to finish my middle school career. After my eighth grade year, I dropped 2 minutes off my 3k from a 14:23 to a 12:23. Now, I’m a sophomore in high school and my 5k PR is a 19:23, my mile PR is a 5:45, and my 3200m run PR is an 11:37. I’m glad I started to run and I’m ready for the 2 more years of high school cross country.
