Personal Statement

Hey there, as you can see I’m a highly motivated and dedicated runner going into my final year of high school. I look to strive in mid-long distance track and field as well as cross country. I am someone who would do whatever it takes to get to the highest level and reach my full potential. I am also a multi-sport athlete who competes in high-level soccer outside of school; as well as playing for my school team.

The reason I got into the sport of running and continued with it is strictly because I want to be the best. In my freshmen year, I placed 10th at regionals in my first-ever high school cross-country race. I was so disappointed that I trained harder than ever until next year I placed 1st in the region and moved on to the OFSAA Cross Country Championships (Ontario Provincial Championships). I now know that hard work truly does pay off and I’ve kept that in mind all the way through my high school career. I guarantee that I am one of the most driven and hardest-working recruits you will come across.

The passion and motivation I have has not only driven my athletic performance but has also injected in me a strong work ethic, discipline, and a commitment to ongoing improvement; even in academics. Every day my aspiration and hope to run competitively in university and even possibly at the pro level keeps me going. In school, my grades have become much more meaningful this year than ever, and so I keep on top of all the work I get while balancing it with my athletics. A goal of mine is to receive the honour roll this upcoming year as I did last year maintaining a 85% average.

I am looking for a post-secondary program where I can make a leap in my athletic and academic career while making a positive impact on the people around me. I believe I would make a good fit for any team because of my leadership, strong mindset, and mental toughness. I apply these skills every day as I am the captain of my school's cross-country team and someone who inspires many younger runners in my club's high school group of kids. I am also a very coachable and likeable athlete with high respect for my club and high school coaches. Feel free to contact me as I would love to hear back from you.

-Christian
