Personal Statement
I am Regardt Fourie, a South African sprinter and hurdler currently residing in Bradenton, Florida where I am attending IMG Academy as a student-athlete. I have been competitively involved in Track and Field since the age of 6 and won nationals by the age of 10. I am a multi-sport and multi-discipline athlete that have proven my worth on the track, rugby field and in the classroom. My verifiable personal bests are 10.62s for the 100m, 21.72s on the 200m, 13.92s for the 110H (36”), and 37.89s for the 300mH at the age of 14. I can also be considered a relay-specialist, specifically running the anchor leg in various relays including 4x100m. After winning Nationals at the age of 10, I went on to qualify and compete at 6 more National Championships, consistently earning podium finishes. I have grown up in a family of people passionate about Track and Field, with both my parents being former track athletes, and my brother being recruited to and competing for four years as a Division I student-athlete at UC Davis. I have overcome injuries and developed into a resilient student-athlete. I am coachable, and a great team player. Off the field, I maintain a high GPA and am a stand-out athlete in Rugby where I play outside centre and feature as the long-distance kicker, often scoring game winners for my previous high school, Helpmekaar Kollege. I would need financial assistance in the form of a Grant-in-Aid or a Scholarship to seriously consider any opportunity, due to the financial situation in both my country and family. I look forward to hearing from you.
