Personal Statement
I first started throwing the javelin at the end of April 2015, but started my high school track and field career my sophomore year that included triple jump, high jump, discus and shot put. I mainly did track to stay connected with my friends and meet new people, until my junior year when I started to focus on it pretty seriously. I first began throwing the javelin at the end of April my junior year after my dad convinced me to give it a try. My very first track meet in throwing the javelin, I only had one practice and ended up getting first place with a throw of 150'. My high school coach said I had much more potential so that's when I really started to focus on that event. My best throw was at regionals with a throw of 183.2. Throughout the high school track season, my approach was the five step crossover, and I ended up getting fifth in the 3A State Track Meet. I still have lots of things that I need to fix, but my goal for next season is to throw over 200' consistently. I have also been practicing the hammer, discus and shot put with my track team this summer. During the school season I have also done football and basketball, although this winter I am looking towards doing indoor track to help me get a jump start on my senior track and field season.
