I have been running on the cross country/track teams since sixth grade and have been running since eight years old.. In the years on the team at Slidell High I have made consistent and noticeable improvements both physically and mentally. I’ve grown in my strength, knowledge of running (training, recovery, etc.), character, and faith throughout high school. Although different injuries have been present in my freshman and sophomore years, I learned to correct the weakness and continued my pattern of dropping time at a steady rate, cutting a minute off of my three mile almost every season since I started with the team. With the right coach, team, and tools, I have the abilities physically and mentally to be a top ranking college athlete.
I am now in a position of leadership on my team and am learning how to build up my teammates to accomplish great things. These efforts have shown by our accomplishments. Fro first time in decades, the boys varsity team won district runner up as well as girls winning their district race. More than the achievements, I am blessed to have a team that has more spirit than any other team I‘ve ever seen. From my experience on the team, I know what a strong, tightly knit team should look like and I know what it takes to get there. I have unending desire to apply all I have learned to a college team and continue to grow along the way!
