Hello, I am Josh Lancaster. I am interested in running after high school, and I have been ever since my Sophomore year. I am in the Class of 2022 from Wachusett Regional High School in Central Mass. I started out running in 8th grade, then in my freshman year, I started out with a 5k time of 24:18. With hard work and the right training, I got that time down to 19:53 for my Freshman year. Then I ran a mile of 5:27 and then 11:26 2 Mile in outdoor. Sophomore year, I ended up going from 19:53 all the way down to 17:28, getting me to the top 10 on my team with even more hard work. During the indoor season just before COVID, I ran a 5:02 mile and 11:12 2 Mile, as well as a 400m split of 58.6, 1:41 600m, and a 3:15 1000m. This year during cross country, I was our number 5 runner and then the track season, I ran a 4:55 mile, 10:37 2 Mile, and a 2:17 800m.
I have been told by many coaches and athletes that I compete with and against that I have learned so much and have this interesting amount of knowledge of running, both when it comes to form, the battle of the mind, and giving motivation to those who need it. I have been called a cheerleader in meets that I'm not competing in, and everyone around me loves it. I feel as though I can always get significantly better with hard work and a lot of determination.
I also participate in extra curricular activities outside of sports like Concert Band, Boy Scouts (and Order of the Arrow, an "honor society to Boy Scouts"), and Holden Fire Explorers Post 2012, a junior firefighting and EMS program.
