My love of running goes back further than when I first joined a team. I have run Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track every season since my freshman year. Ever since I began, I knew that my goal was to run at a collegiate level. My zeal and grit for personal goals allows me not to shy away from challenging situations. When I first joined Karate as a six year old I knew then that I would not fall short from achieving a black belt and becoming an instructor. In Robotics, my diligence and conscientiousness, lead me to achieving the highest positions as mechanical lead on the team. Despite my dyslexia, I breezed through AP English in High School. All these are examples of my resilience and hard work. It was this same mindset that allowed me to push my boundaries in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track.
I am not afraid to be thrown into new events, and always strive to be the best at what I do. When told what to do I will focus on it and not stop until I have reached that goal. It is this commitment that landed me on the varsity teams in my junior year for XC, Indoor and Outdoor Track. I am the captain of the Cross Country team and strive to be a good role model to novice runners on my team. As I grew in Track, I craved to learn about the body itself. This in turn made me read many books about running and human physiology. I often share my new knowledge with runners to help better their performance; this may be in injury prevention, treatment, or simply better running form.
I have taken all Honors classes along with an AP, and maintained a good GPA. I have hundreds of volunteer hours, be it at soup kitchens, environmental clean ups, refugee supply packing, mentoring younger students or building community gardens.
I plan to attend a college where I can train hard and help my team. It is my goal to run at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to give my all wherever I go, and make my coaches, family, and myself proud.
