Jacob Williams '20 Recruiting Profile

My dad has always been the biggest influence in my life. He tries to open up every opportunity to allow me to do my best. However, he has also taught me to work hard and develop my own abilities. I had always played sports as a kid but never found one I resonated with until I started running. At first, it was for health, but soon I decided to do it competitively. Since then, I’ve been running for 6 years with my parents’ full support.

As I’ve competed over the years, I’ve learned to have an attitude about life like I have with running—be a good sport, polite and fair, but don’t let anybody push me over. I have worked hard to become number one in my division, but there’s always been someone acting as a goal to surpass or hurdle to jump in getting there. It’s these people that have pushed me to my limits every year and allowed me to continue to grow. I love the feeling of a hard-fought win and that drive is what motivates me to compete on a college level. I want to keep doing my best and go as far as I can in college like I’m doing in high school.
