Hello, my name is Ibrahim Massey. I am a current senior at Haddon Heights High School, located in Haddon Heights, NJ. One of my short term goals is to run track in the winter and spring through 2014-2016. In my second year of football (Sophomore year) I incurred a major knee injury. I was hit from behind and tore my ACL. Shortly after, I underwent reconstructive knee surgery, preventing me from participating in any sports for at least a full year. After the surgery, I endured 9 months of intensive physical therapy. While in my 6th month of physical therapy, I met the 9th month marker according to my strength test results. I was determined to have a great recovery, especially after my accomplishments in my previous years. In 8th grade I attended the Colonial Conference in which ran I an 11.69 in the 100m winning the event, also my relay team won in the 4x100m event setting a new record for the junior high 4x100m relay. This year, I am aiming to decrease my time to a 10.7 or 10.6 in the 100m and a 21.7 or 21.5 in the 200m.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my passion, commitment, consistency, true competitiveness and dedication. I am willing to work hard, and push myself to accomplish any goal, and become the best. I work out vigorously 3-4x a week. Focusing on major muscle groups such as my hamstrings, quads, biceps, triceps, traps,etc... In addition, I am a student athlete that takes my academics seriously. In my previous years of high school I took honors math and science and have a GPA of a 3.37. I have improved my GPA consistenly, and intend to have a GPA of a 3.5 or better by the time of graduation. Furthermore, I believe my character is another thing that sets me apart from others. Many teachers will tell you that I am respectful, trustworthy, amiable, well mannered, and a pleasure to have in class. So much so I was awarded Student of the Month. I often tend to be shy but more than willing to help others. As a team member I exhibit positive behavior and encourage others to strive for greatness. As Albert Einstein once said, "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."
