Ever since I was young I loved running. I would run around everywhere I went. I would run in the store, in my house, and in school. So I used the love I have for running and made something out of it. When I was in 7th grade I tried to join my school's track team but on the first day of practice, schools were shut down because of covid. Not only was I upset because I couldn't join the track team, but my mom was upset because I couldn't go to school anymore. I was always exceptional in school as well. When I was in first grade I would go to a second-grade class during reading time because I was smarter than most of the kids in my grade. In my entire time in middle school, I earned high honor roll. I had 90s and above in every class. I also got nominated for the National Junior Honor Society. The National Junior Honor Society is an international student organization that consists of chapters in middle schools and its purpose is to promote the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship within schools. In middle school, I also played an instrument and I was the top of my class. When I got to high school/9th grade I was put into two advanced classes. Those classes were global history and ELA. I maintained 90s and above in both of those classes. I also started working at my local Mcdonalds in 9th grade. Because of my experience at Mcdonalds, not only have I gained social skills, but I also learned the value of money and running and business. I also joined the track and field team in 9th grade. I earned many accolades and considering it was my first year doing track I did a pretty good job. I chose to do hurdles and high jump and I immediately became the apart of the top 3 hurdlers on my team. At my first meet I ran 20.27 in the 110m hurdles, a 1:12.42 in the 400m hurdles, and I jumped 4’9ft in high jmp. By the end of the season in 9th grade I ran 17.89 in the 110m hurdles, a 1:06.05 in the 400m hurdles, and I jumped 5’4ft. I am now in 10th grade. Not only am I in advanced global history and ELA, but I am in advanced geometry as well. I still get high honor roll every marking period. I am also doing better in track than I was last year. I don’t run the 110m hurdles or the 400m hurdles because we are currently in indoor season and you can only run those races during outdoor season. But I do run the 55m hurdles, 4x400m, and high jump. My time for the 55m hurdles is 8.24. My time for the 4x400 is 55.73. And now I jump 5’10ft in high jump. I used my quick thinking, fast learning, and rapid growth to gain multiple first, second and third place medals for track and I will continue to do even better. I am also very intelligent and maintained my position in advanced classes and on high honor roll. Even though I participate in track and field and continue to work at Mcdonald’s I don’t falter academically. However, now I see what once seemed like something kids do for fun, turned into something many people acknowledge me for. So I encourage you to pursue what you are passionate about and make something great out of it.
