I did not follow the typical path to a track career. I started playing soccer as a 5-year-old and played competitive travel soccer in addition to playing for my middle and high school teams. When I got to high school I played Varsity level soccer in the summer of my freshman year and was a starter in my sophomore year. I then decided to participate in winter track to cross-train for soccer and to stay in shape. After my first meet I found another passion in my life, TRACK.
Over the past two seasons my times became better cutting seconds off every race. My tenacity for beating my PRs never wained. This thought process has followed me throughout my high school years which I believe is critical for my success. I believe that in order for me to reach my full potential I need to work hard and aim high. I am currently trying to cut down my times in my "key events" in which I have been successful getting faster every time I race these events. More than the awards I've received and the personal recognition, I have come to appreciate what track has taught me about myself. I now crave any environment that is competitive on and off the track. Running has opened my eyes to enjoying intense preparation even if there is little recognition to be found. As many exciting moments as I have had in my career I have also faced disappointment however this disappointment gave me the drive to succeed further.
Life is filled with uncertainty and I will not always be recognized for my successes but through my experiences I have come to the realization that the strength of my character, work ethic and personal commitment to tackle any challenge is of utmost importance.
