Personal Statement

To start off I'd like to introduce myself in full. My name is Dimitri Franklin, I am the captain of NYC Success Academy track and Field team. I was made team captain because I lead by example in staying a hardworking, persistent, confident, positive, and dedicated athlete. I have been running track for three years. I joined track my freshman year as a way for me to stay out of trouble and lose weight, I instantly fell in love with the sport and saw myself competing as a professional athlete. Currently, I compete as the teams decathlete because I am a well-rounded, versatile student - athlete and can compete in various events. In academics, I maintain around a 3.0 GPA as I take being a student- athlete very seriously.  As a captain I take time to understand my fellow athletes and whenever I can I help out where it is needed. Going farther into the future I am looking to compete as a collegiate athlete and get a degree in Kinesiology to get on the path to become a Physical Therapist(PT). Ultimately, my goal is to get my name out there now, as it is a crucial time to get exposure. Thank you for reviewing my profile.
