The javelin has been one of my favorite events since i started to throw the small one in middle school. It is a sense of accomplishment when hitting a new record. The javelin shows both physical strength and also skill and technique. I have started to work very hard in my training for the javelin. I want to have the opportunity to throw in college. Not only to compete but to be able to get a quality education in the field of engineering.
I go to a small private school in Harrisburg Oregon. It is very humbling when going to school with only 5 other people in your grade. But it is a learning experience, I am a part of my schools leadership team. We work on the field trips for the grades from Kindergarden through 12th grade. We also work on projects like fundraising and organizing events to improve the school.
My family is one that i am so blessed to have. They support me in everything i do. My father is a family pastor at our church. My mother is the owner of We Choose Virtues a small business that teaches young kids the values of character. I have two brothers and a sister. They are very influential in my life and i don't know what i would do without them.
All in all i am looking for a college that can put me in the right place to succeed. I believe that the javelin could help me get there.
thank you.
Avery McMillan.
