Personal Statement

Last fall Newport Daily News reporter Greg Sullivan wrote "A three-year starter and perhaps the speediest of the Islanders, Miller last season was named first-team all-conference and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns." I have been passionate about football from a very young age and joined the Pop Warner roster at the age of eight. My father won the high school Super Bowl in 1997 and our Islander team won in 2023. I've approached every sport I've participated in with the same passion as I have football. Soccer and basketball were also favorites and I've only recently added track & field to my repertoire.

I knew I was fast but it wasn't until my mom excitedly read me that quote from the newspaper that I thought....maybe I should join the track team.  Spring of junior year was my first outdoor season. It certainly was a learning curve and although I didn't do as well as I hoped I was eager to hone my newly acquired athletic skills. I just completed my first indoor season as a senior and was named All State, All Division and All Class in addition to receiving the Coaches Award.  Outdoor track has only just begun and I am excited about building on my two previous seasons and I am hope to break my personal best stats this spring.

The thought of continuing to build my athletic skills and further my education at the collegiate level is thrilling. I enjoy the comradery and brotherhood of being part of a team. I have made lifelong friends from every team I have been a part of. I am excited about the prospect of making new connections in college.

Academically I look forward to the new challenges and rigors a university course load will bring. In high school your are directed which classes to take, some of which you have no desire or interest in. I can't wait to see which classes are offered and choose the ones I wish to enroll in.
