Personal Statement
Educationally, my goals are to achieve academic excellence and knowledge in my chosen career (undecided as of yet) in order to attain a Bachelor’s degree and possibly a Master's degree. Athletically, my goals are to contribute to the strength of a college-level track and field team, to push myself toward new PRs in my events, and to be an example and a leader among other recruits and other athletes. I hope to be considered a great candidate for a collegiate team because of my strong work ethic and leadership skills. Additionally, I strive to perform to the best of my ability in all that I do.
I value integrity and perseverance and am willing to work hard to achieve goals. It has always been important to me to strive to push myself as I complete at the highest level for both myself and my team. Trustworthiness and faithfulness are ingrained in my work ethic, which leads others to be able to count on me in a variety of situations. Having been given the opportunity to work with excellent teachers and coaches through the years, I value the wisdom and the advice of those who are in authority over me and those who care about me. During my high school years, I plan to continue to compete in both fall and spring sports - football in the fall of each year, and in track and field the rest of the year, including the summer months. Because I strive to stay in shape for each sport, I work out physically year around both in a team and individual training in order to maintain strength and agility.
Finally, I realistically understand my strengths and work hard to capitalize on these areas while working diligently to grow in areas that are difficult for me. I have worked hard to overcome obstacles that come with dyslexia and dysgraphia, with which I have been diagnosed. I value the strong educational foundation I have been given through high school and desire to continue to build upon that foundation as a look ahead into my college years.
