Hello,
I am Kirk Vickers. I am interested in competing in track and field during college. I have been in track since the seventh grade. I have been placed by coaches in various events ranging from the 4X100 relay to high jump, and eventually honing my skill over the past three years in triple and long jump events. My sophomore year I was a district champion in triple jump, area runner up, and placed fourth in the 4A Region 1 track meet in Lubbock Texas. This summer I placed second at the Texas TAAF Summer Games State Meet in McAllen, TX in the triple jump.
When not at school or athletics, I participate in a variety of church activities. I am a leader in my youth group. For 5 years I have volunteered as a coach for our local Spring Break Champs Camp where kids 5 yrs - 6th grade learn about sportsmanship and Christianity.
At this time my goal for education is to obtain a bachelors degree in a field that would contribute to being a commercial airline pilot or a similar field.
I feel comfortable saying my coaches and teachers would have favorable things to say about me as an athlete and student. I have exceptional attendance records throughout school. I work hard in practice and in class. I have not had any disciplinary issues, nor do I plan on having any as I finish my high school career.
