Personal Statement

Since I was 8 years old, I wanted to do two things; be a college athlete and own my own business.  I started in sports right away.  My parents made me wait until I was 10 to go into business.

On April 27, 2006, I launched, Matthew to the Rescue, a neighborhood pet sitting business.  My company filled a very important need in my community and over the next four years it expanded into house sitting and landscaping.  In 2010, I partnered with a friend and together we launched The Cross Timber Hill Guys. In 2012, we earned over $16K, and we now carry 5 part time employees to help cover our study and vacation time. In preparation for college, we are interning my younger brother this summer. The loyalty of our customers depends on our ability to keep growing with new leadership.

Before I started my business, I already ran track.  I qualified for state every summer and traveled to run, jump, and throw.  In high school, I played baseball my freshman and sophomore years before giving it up to focus on basketball and track and field at the varsity level.  In 2013 we had a very strong track and field team where my coach encouraged me to run sprints, sprint relays and throw the shot to generate the maximum amount of points for our team.  I competed at the regional meet in, the 4x200, 4x100, and shot put.  However, my true passion is not just running it is also jumping and throwing.  I was not able to do all of these this past year; however, I’ve been working hard this summer on all the events I haven’t been able to participate in over the last few years.   I have always believed running is fundamental to all sports and have come to love it the most.  I am determined to fulfill my dream by representing my school on the track and I’m confident that I will contribute significantly to a major college program as a decathlete/heptathlete in (2014-15).

I dream about the opportunity to be a leader for my university on the track, in the classroom, and in student life by giving 100%.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
