Personal Statement
My name is Andrew Brown. I am currently a Senior at Tumwater High School in Tumwater, WA. I have been interested in sports all of my life and am proud to say that Tumwater High School has a distinguished sports program, of which I have been active in since I was a Freshman. I have played football for four years (Varsity sophomore, junior and senior years), basketball for two years and have run track for three years (Varsity freshman, sophomore and junior years). I will be running as a Senior this spring.
As a freshman, I competed at the State championships in track. Two years ago, as a sophomore, I won the 400m becoming the 2A state Champion in that event. On May 26, 2012, I kept my title as the 2A state Champion in the 400m, breaking the 2A meet record with a time of 48.35.
In 2010, as a varsity football player I was a part of the team that became the 2A state champions in football. This year I am one of the captains of the Varsity football team.
Sports allow me to set goals for myself that I know with hard work and dedication to practice I can reach. I am hoping to continue to push myself and work hard so that I will be able to compete in track at the College level. I know that I have both the physical skills and leadership skills to continue track in college, because along with being one of the current leaders for our football team, I was also chosen captain of the Varsity track team last year.
I am sure that as I keep running track the on-going hard work will pay off and I will achieve the times that I set for myself as goals. I aspire to use the lessons I learn from working hard and carry these achievments and accomplishments throughout my whole life.
