My name is Kaden. I am a 17-year-old Senior, 6’2” a previous middle hitter, currently playing outside and opposite. I graduate in 2024, I love volleyball, and I cannot wait to play in college. I think what makes me a good candidate for your team is my passion and experience. I played volleyball for Antelope High School and NCVC Club last year and am currently playing both again this year. Though I have been involved in sports all my life, volleyball has taught me how important teamwork is. I played soccer for 5 years, was a volunteer youth soccer referee for 4 years, have studied martial arts for 6.5 years earning my 2nd degree black belt and earning a spot on the competitive demonstration team Red & Black Attack. I have enjoyed all of these sporting activities for a variety of reasons and I think that volleyball has shown me, more so than the other sports, how important team morale is. How my teammates feel about the sport itself, how they feel about their teammates, how they feel about the coach, and even how they feel about themselves, is extremely important for success within the game.
Academics has always been very important to me and I'm proud of what I have accomplished. I was in the Gifted & Talented Education Program throughout elementary and junior high school, carrying a 4.0 GPA throughout. Also, in middle school, I was part of the National Junior Honors Society and was accepted into the National Honors Society as a freshman in high school. I am currently in the bio-med club, NHS club, and am also part of a program called, 'Project Lead The Way' for bio-medical science. In addition to my love for academics, I have a passion for music. I played in the concert and jazz band in middle school and now participate in the high school performing arts program that includes jazz band, marching band, and wind ensemble. Music allows me to tap into my creative side promoting better balance in my life which helps me perform better academically and athletically.
When thinking about what makes me feel unique, I think about my family. I have 3 younger siblings, 2 adopted, and all have special needs to varying degrees. I have learned how to mitigate and navigate emotional and physical outbursts and meltdowns. I have also learned how to forgive those outbursts and meltdowns in order to have the kind of relationship I want with my siblings. My personal experiences at home have helped me in my volunteer position at My EARS 2 Hear, a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support for families with kids who have special needs. I have volunteered as a child-care provider for the past 4 years. I enjoy planning fun activities and games for the kids; it's rewarding to provide a service, a respite, to parents, and to help kids have fun.
I believe my love for athletics, academics, and service are what make me a great candidate. I bring with me determination, perseverance, integrity, and an indomitable spirit. Volleyball is my passion and I would love to be a part of a competitive collegiate team with like-minded teammates.
