I started volleyball at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school, with little knowledge of the sport as I had always run cross country and played basketball. I attended a summer camp before my sophomore year, and I spent the majority of my time playing volleyball with my friends. I had so much fun playing that I took a leap of faith and hung up my cross country shoes to start volleyball, as their season was at the same time. Beginning volleyball as a sophomore was difficult, as I was starting much later than most of my teammates. I was fortunate to have a great high school coach who was patient, and he helped me learn the game and build my skills.
After the high school season ended, I was able to join a club team. It was totally different from school and I knew little to no people, but at that point I was hooked. After spending a few months playing club volleyball, and also school basketball, I knew I had to commit to only one sport because it was becoming too much for me. My passion for volleyball was so much stronger compared to basketball, even though I had been playing basketball since I was 8. I made the decision to drop basketball all together, and put all of my time and energy into volleyball. I am thankful I took that leap of faith to start my volleyball career, and I have truly found my passion.
When I'm not with my club team; I'm taking training lessons and working out to try and catch up for the years of playing the sport I have missed out on. Moving forward I really want to continue playing competitive volleyball in college.
