Benjamin Andexler '24 Recruiting Profile

I find it hard to express how much  volleyball means to me. I guess you could say I was born into it, since my parents met playing beach volleyball that was a big part of their life until my sister was born. I am half Italian, I speak the language fluently and my mother was an avid indoor player throughout high school and medical school in Rome until she moved to Miami…. my older sister had already been playing indoor and then beach volleyball for several years when Covid came, we had nothing else to do and we started playing in sand blind draws,  so in some ways I also owe it to Covid if I found this sport. It has become my biggest passion and all I do, besides school, has to do with it. my last season 2021-22 was the first serious club season and I cannot wait now for club to restart. In the mean time I find any ways I can to play and improve, playing in the sand and on the grass at every available tournament. I love setting and the emotional intelligence it requires, though I played some tournaments as a hitter since it comes really natural to me and I am told I am very good at it. I am lucky to have the full support of my parents that go to great distances to help me try to achieve my goal of playing in college, though I am always reminded the school is the most important thing and so I try to also maintain a rigorous curriculum and good grades. I have been studying through the summer and I am scheduled to take the act in the fall for the first time. I feel a little at disadvantage being already a junior at my age, as I went to school a year early and I am a year late growing compared to kids my grade, but I hope coaches will be able to see my passion and determination and my jumping abilities! !! I will keep working hard to improve and get as much practice as possible, and I am ready to prove myself! I hope for a chance to show it all.
