I started playing volleyball my 7th grade year. It was a way to fill the offseasons of my other sports. Soon volleyball became my favorite sport. By my 8th grade year I decided to play club volleyball at Vanguard Volleyball Club. I started playing opposite and outside my 14s year; I did not have much success, but I kept working and getting better. Before my 15s year I was moved around in order to fill holes in our team's roster. I played outside, opposite, setter, and finally ended playing middle. I struggled with the change but eventually I got the hang of it.
Since then I have mainly been starting middle for my club. My team placed 25th in open both 15s and 16s year. My freshman year of high school I played outside for the freshman team, but played varsity during the state tournament. My sophomore year was a big step up. Most of the varsity team left, so someone had to step up. It had to be me. I started varsity to begin the season. By the end, I earned 1st team all league, 1st team all region, and 2nd team all state honors at outside.
During the summer after my 16s year/sophomore campaign, I quit my other sports to focus on volleyball. I played beach volleyball and attended every open gym I could. I also started to focus on my physical capabilities, by lifting and eating better. This resulted in a gain of around 15 pounds along with growing a couple inches. Now I am looking forward to college. I will continue working to earn a spot on a college roster and pursue a degree.
I intend to pursue a degree in the field of biology, most likely in the biomedical engineering field or pharmaceuticals. I really enjoyed my sophomore Biology class, especially microbiology. I found the homework and the lectures absolutely fascinating. I also would be open to pursuing a degree in athletic training or something closely related. I love sports and staying involved in them while making a living would be incredible. I am looking forward to what the future holds.
