Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes was a surreal event for me and my family. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to play soccer again, but thanks to my family and modern day technology I'm able to keep pursuing my dreams. I aspire to find how far I can go athletically and to be a role-model for all other kids with any ailment or disease. I want to show everyone that anything is possible so long as you put in your time and dedication. Sure diabetes has its challenges, but I greet them head on and it has ultimately translated into making me a better player, a better student, a better man.
My discipline is one of my main strengths. The maturity gained by managing my glucose levels or deciding what's appropriate to eat has turned me into a better player in that I'm constantly focused and I keep the team engaged. On top of that, I enjoy leading others and pushing my teammates to become better players.
