James Nguyen '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is James Nguyen, C/O 2023. My goal after high school is to be able to play volleyball at the collegiate level whether it be for a club or any division level. Adding on to that I want to do whatever I can to help a team be able to become a winning team. What makes me a good candidate for any team is would most definitely my dedication and my ability to play with any teammate. I've played volleyball for a very long time with many different types of players and I know that I will be able to work with anyone including coaches. I think what makes me different from other recruits would be my love for the game and being able to put extra work into my game when nobody is watching. Another thing that I think differentiates me from other athletes would be my mindset and the strive to always keep the ball up and make sure that the ball with not hit the ground. Volleyball has heavily disciplined me into the person that I am and I make sure to always put in one hundred percent in games and in practice.  As a student-athlete, I make sure to put academics first before being an athlete, which has resulted in my discipline being much stronger. Lastly what makes me different from other athletes would be my ability to adapt and learn. At a young age I would always watch the older kids play and what I've noticed is that everyone has their own type of technique when it came to passing, setting, and even hitting. As I watch these players, to the best of my abilities I try to integrate these new skills into my game to help improve myself skill-wise and IQ-wise.

All in all, I think the game of volleyball is one of the most beautiful sports and I hope to be able to play competitively after high school. I hope that I can make a big impact on any team I play for, as my goal as an athlete is to make sure that everyone including myself can play at their best and become the best team that we can be together.
