I have not been playing VB since I was 6, Volleyball found me as a Freshman in HS when gym class had VB and the teacher ask “do you play?” I answered no, he said “ you should.” I started as JV setter and we won games, varsity was struggling and after 0-14 start, I was given the opportunity to play in 6-2 offense and we won the final 2 games to sneak in playofffs. We beat the higher seed in the first round, we were ecstatic! We lost the next round to the eventual champs, but it started something great among my teammates, we believed we could win.
After HS seaon, I played club and we went to AAU nationals. I was still learning VB and improving, the experience and playing is what I needed. My improvement was noticeable and I earned the starting setter role my sophomore HS season, we run a 5-1 and had a great season with quality wins and a playofff run, loosing in the 1st round of states. It stung, we new we were better than that game indicated and we gave up a 2-0 lead.
Another summer season of club lead us to AAU nationals, results were much different than my first experience. We started hot, winning 11 games and finishing 3rd place. It was so much fun to share with teammates. This club team was different, 3 of us from HS team play for Pitt Elite.
Our HS team is playing well, we are 13-0 and have won all games in straight set. Our sights are set for a late playoff run and believe we can contend for state title.
I would like to play at the collegiate level and study engineering.
I did not know about volleyball early, I started Taekwondo at 6 years old and began competing at 10. As a 2nd and 3rd blackbelt, I have won 4 World Championships and 17 Nationall Chamionships gold medals. After 5 gold medals in Dallas “23 Nationals, I decided to continue to teach at local studio but concentrate on Volleyball and I’m happy I have. The team experience is more satisfying than individual accmpishments.
