Cy Hammerstrom '23 Recruiting Profile

Water polo has coursed through my blood the majority of my life seeing that I’ve played the game for 11 years starting at the age of 6.  I’m always trying to make myself better at the game putting in the extra hours to be ahead of the competition.  I play goalie and that’s been the spot over the years which I’ve adapted to and am constantly trying to get better at.  Being goalie gives me the opportunity to use my leadership skills to direct the team by projecting my voice so that the offense and defense both see the unseen and are cooperative.  Academics also plays a big role. I have strived for and achieved nothing less than perfect marks academically and being able to use my wits in game time situations allows for me to be that much better.  Balancing community service is also near and dear to my heart and plays a big role in my life.  I love helping out the community in whatever ways possible, especially at the church.  Attending a college for water polo would be a lifelong dream come true.  I’ve always been driven by the fact that I can go somewhere with water polo and I’m not going to stop until I achieve that goal, which has driven me all of my life.
