I started playing water polo only a few years ago, but quickly realized this was the sport for me. Prior to joining my local water polo club team towards the end of covid, I had been doing club swim. It was an easy transition as far as going from one sport in the water to another, but I definitely felt the pressure to learn the fundamentals much later than my teammates. I took on this challenge by not only being very present and willing to work harder than I ever had during practices, but I also constantly watched film from my games as well as other local teams. I feel that learning outside of the water is just as important as the time spent in the pool.
Being that I did come later into this sport than most my age, I feel I have proven my strong work ethic and willingness to become a better player. Freshman year I was on JV. As a sophomore I played on my high school's varsity water polo team. This year, as a junior, not only was I a starter but I was honored with being named a Team Captain. Our high school team made it to the first round of CIF Division 3. My strengths lie in my ability to be a strong shooter, my driving competence, and my defense around the perimeter.
I aspire to attend a university where I can both pursue my educational goals in attaining a degree in Economics and/or Business, as well as continue playing water polo at a collegiate level. I have proven to be a leader to my team and to my peers, but am also always a student looking to learn and better myself in all aspects of life. I maintain a 4.6 GPA, I am taking IB classes as well as college classes, I am currently ranked 1 out of 496 in my class, but I also know the importance of having fun and enjoying time spent with family and friends. I am confident that the perfect school will enable me to achieve academic, personal, and athletic success.
