George Lopez '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I am currently a senior at Charles W. Flanagan High school and have been involved with my school’s swim and water polo teams since I was a freshman. From the very beginning of my high school years, I have always been a hard worker, have always strived to improve my game, as well as elevated the game of my teammates. This year I was named Captain of the Men’s Swim and Water Polo teams, and it has been a great honor. I have been described by my coach and teammates as one of the best leaders they have had for some time. I value leadership, above everything else, and I look forward to being part of a successful collegiate team in the near future!

            I am very passionate about swim and water polo, and I am certain this was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Since a very early age, I have always loved water sports, and I instantly knew water polo became my favorite sport. Since joining my high school team, I immediately made an impact. During my freshman year, I developed on both sides of the ball rather quickly. For my sophomore year, I started all games, which proved to be an amazing year, until Covid-19 cut our season short. During the lockdown, water polo was all I could think of, so I trained hard and hoped we’d reopen for junior year, and we did! Even though there were no spectators allowed, given all the protocols, I had the game I loved back in my life. It was during my junior year that I realized my potential (breakout season) and made it my goal to pursue this as my life’s choice.

            Now with swim in full season, and our upcoming water polo season in January, I am more than ready to lead my team as far as we can go, with no limitations! I have been at the top of my game psychically and mentally, and my goals for the future is to play collegiate water polo, as well as swim team, and look forward to an opportunity to play the game I love and be a key leader in a top school.
