During the pandemic when I was at 8th grade, swimming was not available and I found water polo as a substitute. However, that 'substitute' evolved and became more than just a sport I do in my free time, it became a part of myself. Soon my love for water polo made me want to improve myself to the point where I can play in college, which I understand is extremely difficult. So, I applied and got accepted by BIWPA (Barcelona International Water Polo Academy) to train in Spain for six months during my sophomore year to improve my skills as an athlete and water polo goalie. During my time there, I learned many lessons, both inside and outside the pool. These lessons helped me to set goals with my club and high school teams back home, which include: I want to earn the confidence of my teammates during a high-stakes game; I want to support my teammates both in and out of the pool; I want to instill and build pride; and I want to be a teammate where whenever someone asks, "who is always going to be there for you?" I want them to answer with my name immediately.
