Jessie Schmidt '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jessie Schmidt and I am a 17 year old student athlete from Alberta, Canada who graduates in the spring of 2023. Last season I played for U17A Southern Alberta Revolution, an elite softball team based in Calgary with players from all over Southern Alberta.  During this time I was also able to represent Canada at the Senior Little League World Series in Delaware, gaining valuable experience in international competition, perseverance and pressure. I recently made the U19A Calgary Adrenaline Fastpitch team and am looking forward to playing with them through the 2023 season.

I am a 5'6" right-handed player who bats from the left side as a both a power hitter and developing slapper. I am a vocal player with a strong arm and a good sense of the game, though would love to further that knowledge and skillset at the collegiate level. 

I am currently a grade 12 student who has maintained an honour roll status for 4 consecutive years, taking AP courses along the way. Although softball is my focus, in the off season I have done 3 seasons of club volleyball and 10+ seasons of competitive Ringette, the last 5 at the AA level as a goalie. All these experiences have contributed to my comprehensive skillset, excellent hand-eye, competitive drive and coachability.  I have been in many high-pressured sports situations and know the valuable experience I've gained as a goalie contributes to the mental toughness I continue to develop. I intend to obtain an undergrad in Political Science, continuing to law school to eventually become a lawyer in a competitive sport environment.  I hope to further my softball career into university, contribute to my school community and find as much success as possible in all of my pursuits. I believe I could be a great asset to your team in many different ways.
