Personal Statement

Before finding my passion, I was a competitive figure skater for eight years. This allowed me to develop the skills required to train and progress on my own, as well as staying focused on my goals. I’ve applied these skills to softball from the beginning. I have been playing competitive softball for 7 years now. Ever since I first stepped onto the field, I fell in love with the game. I became a catcher by chance as a volunteer. After my first try at the position, I knew this was the position I wanted to play.

I have been dreaming about playing softball at a high level for a very long time. It has changed my extracurricular focus. I dedicate hours on the field and in the gym, as well as watching games when time permits.

Thanks to the game, I’ve learned quite a bit about myself. I am focused, competitive, collegial, and strategic with good leadership abilities. These skills are also very useful in my every day life. As a player, I believe my strengths are hitting, catching, and supporting my teammates. My desire to learn and get better make me easy to coach.

As a student athlete, I have high expectations for myself on and off the field. I always strive for success. My mindset is to attend a college where I can challenge myself both academically and athletically.

I believe that being an active member in my community is important. I have participated in bottle drives to fund minor sports associations, I organized a school drive to collect and distribute toiletries for the homeless, and I currently volunteer as a peer mentor for the U16 Vancouver Coastal Team in preparation for the 2022 British Columbia Summer Games.

In the spirit of giving back to my community and sport, I plan on becoming a coach to share my passion for the game.

  • I want to thank my parents for their love and support, and my coaches for their dedication, patience, and knowledge.
