As an athlete, I strive to be the very best I can possibly be, whether it is in school trying to have better grades than the last semester, or on the field, where I play my hardest to the best of my ability. My competitive nature allows me to be a top academic student as well as a strong softball player. However, skill and accomplishment don't define who a person is, character and personality do.
While I strive to be the best I can be on the field, I also try to maintain relationships and keep up good character. I always am there for anyone that needs comfort or encouragement, or just someone to talk to. While I may be competitive on the field with my game face on, off the field, I strive to be kind, compassionate, and helpful. I try my best to be there for my teammates in their low points, and I cheer them on in their high points.
Softball is the only sport I've played in which I feel I can be competitive and stay fit, as well as have close friendships with my teammates on and off the field. The reason why I want to play softball in college is that I don't want to let go of the sport that I have played for so long, that has defined me and my character for the majority of my life, and that I have been so lucky to have made so many close friends while playing it. I love all the different aspects of softball, and playing it in college has been my dream ever since I went to go watch a college softball game with my team when I was 8. I have always been proud of the unique skill set I have acquired playing softball as well as the relationships I have built through the sport, and it's something that I want to keep in my life through college and as long as I possibly can.
