Personal Statement

My name is Ashley. I am 5'6" and weigh 130 lbs. I come from a family of 7 including me. I also come from a family of softball players. My oldest sister attended COS (College of the Sequoias) and University of West Alabama and played softball. My second oldest sister played one year at COS (College of the Sequoia) and she is currently playing at Reedley College. My little sister plays beside me at Redwood High School, a Varsity athlete since her freshman year as well. Lastly, my little brother is playing with the Visalia Lightning and for Green Acres Middle School and will be attending Redwood next year. I have been around sports ever since I was born. I have always had a ball in my hand. I was 5 when I started T-ball. I have been playing ever since then. I fell in love with the sport as soon as t-ball started. I have played for the Visalia Youth Softball League, the Visalia Spirits, the  Central California Krush, the Visalia Xpress and now I’m playing for the Central Cal Dirt Dogs 18U. For School I played at La Joya Middle School and now Varsity at Redwood High School. All the years I have been playing I have learned that teamwork wins a lot of games and that this is a sport to make friends and it’s not about the big things, but the small things at the right time. Life plays a big part of softball because win or lose your team is still your family and you learn more and more each time you play. I have been inspired by my dad. He has pushed my to the point where I just want to fall to the ground but he does it to make me a better player. I have learned a lot through him through the years. My freshman year I was the starting center fielder for Coach Rooney at Redwood. My sophomore year I was the starting left fielder. Now as a junior, I play first base and center-field. Since my freshman year I have been the leadoff hitter and my goal every time is to get on to help my teammates and if I am up in the situation with people on base, I do my best to get them over or get them in. I can drag bunt, slap, power slap, and hit away.

Academically, I plan to major in English Language Arts and Creative Writing. I love to write and create stories on my own. The person who has inspired me is my English teacher Mr. Miller. English is more than a class to me. It’s a chance to learn about life too. In novels, you learn so much about life; it’s not just a book for a grade but a book for you to learn lessons from. My goal is to go to college on a scholarship and be the best student- athlete I can be. I also want to be a role model that people look up to. Ever since I was little I wanted to be just like Caitlyn Lowe. She’s my role model and I want to do the same for the next generation of softball players.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
