Hello Coaches,
My name is Erika Perez. I’ve been playing since I was eight years old. I had no clue what I was playing I just knew I wanted to play. My parents wanted my sister and I to keep busy so they signed us up. When I started Playing Rech ball I had no clue how to throw a ball or even catch. Apparently I was so bad the coach that my sister and I were assigned too had kicked my sister and I off his team. He said he had a competitive team and my sister and I didn’t have it. The league we were playing for moved us to another team.. my sister and I were so upset and thought why are we here we can’t play. My mom made us stay. Thats when we had a new coach, Coach Frank. He believed in us he saw the potential we had. My sister after playing a few years decided it wasn’t for her, But I continued. Coach Frank said I had a great arm what ever that meant at that time. I was like thanks! So he set me up to be a catcher. At eight years old my mom would make me wear my gear and I loved the feeling of having control. Having the view of the next batter and knowing what her next move would be Just by looking at her stand. I can play out field I can play anything. But I love to catch. I love being part of a team. Whether I’m playing or on the bench. It’s about being part of that team of girls where we are all there for one thing is to play. I’m only sixteen years old and a junior in high school. Trying to figure out what my next step is. I do know I want to continue playing. I want to continue learning and making better strives to becoming a great softball player.
