College is not only an experience I want to have, it is something I need to participate in order to have a career. At this time, I do not know for certain what I want my career to be but I do know that I am a career oriented person. My educational interests are in the fields of psychology, something within the medical field, or even forensic and/or criminal justice.
I know I would be an asset to any team that requires mental toughness, sportsmanship, dedication, and fun. I always try to be the hardest working player on the field, wether it is during a game or at practice. Hard work on a team sport is not only blocking that wild pitch, making a diving catch, or hitting the ball over the fence. To me, my hard work goes much further than that.
Hard work is communication. I communicate with my teammates about past, present, and future situations to always be working together.
Hard work is being part of a team. If one of my teammates makes an error, I need to pick her up. If I make an error, I do not forget it completely because I will need to practice, but I put it in the past and continue to play my hardest knowing that there is nothing I can do about it at that time except to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Hard work is always participating in the game. If I am not on the field playing, I am observing the game and trying to find things to learn from my teammates or other teams. When I am waiting for my turn to bat, I am not only getting information about the pitcher and what she throws, I am also noticing where the defense is playing, and how they are playing. In addition, and most importantly, I am up on the fence cheering on my teammates. I think these are the things that bring to a team and is why I was awarded the Coaches Award on my high school team for the 2015 season.
I was once a little girl that fell in love with the game of softball and I still love it to this day. There is a popular saying out there that states if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. That is how I feel when I play ball. What I have explained as hard work is really something I just love to do because I love the sport!
