Bethany Ballard '13 Recruiting Profile

Hey, I'm Bethany Ballard. I'm fifteen years old. I'm 5'7", and 155 pounds. I am a student athlete who aspires to be more than I am now. I am a very devoted person, and I have no quit in me. I am a leader, and will push my teamates to be better than they already are which will in turn make me better too. I started softball at the age of eight, and was naturally gifted. Although I have the skill, without all the hard work that my family and I put into it, I wouldnt be where I am now. I trained day after day with my dad beggining in the outfield and worked my way to pitching. I strained my bicep and had to take a year off, during the year I couldn't pitch, I began to catch. I immediately fell in love with catching, and have been catching ever since. As well as catching, I have played every other position on the field. I tend to play 3rd and 1st or the outfield, when I am not catcing. I used to be one of the slower runners on the team, but as I have grown into my legs, I have gotten faster. My time from home to fisrt is 3.2 seconds, and I am still working on it. Ussually, I am the clean up hitter on my travel team and lead the team in OBP and RBI's. Although I love softball, school work comes first. I am straight A student in all honors/AP classes, and I take my grades very seriously. My goal is to go to a college where I can persue my dream of going into the medical field and play softball at the most competitive level possible.
