Personal Statement

Hi, I am Abbey Huerta! I attend DePaul College Preparatory High School in Chicago, Illinois. I have been playing softball for as long as I can remember and have been pitching since I was 9, which I then grew a passion for. I have 2 older brothers who have a lot of love for baseball as well and my dad who has been coaching them and helping me since we were able to hold a baseball/softball. They have all been helping me along the way to be the player I am today. I have grown up to learn from what my dad has taught them as a coach, seeing and learning what my brothers had done and putting it into a softball perspective and going to pitching clinics. The pitching clinic I currently attend is Practice Pro lead by Abby Hanrahan. As a player I try to have empathy for all people surrounding me in a game, show leadership on and off the field, and keep a strong and positive attitude. I as well would say I am very persistent and try my best to rebound in any situation I am put in that may not go as planned. In school I try my very best and although I have struggled along the way, I have been able to be successful and proud by the end of the semester. Outside of softball and academics, as a person, I try my best to help others to the best of my abilities and I as well enjoy working with students with special needs, autism, and any other setback they may struggle with. In the future I plan on majoring in the medical field, going to medical school, and then become a pediatrician. Thank you so much for your time!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
