Personal Statement
My name is Haley Barnes. I’m a 5’10” 2021 shortstop/pitcher/utility player from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. I’ve been a varsity starter since my freshman year. My freshman year I received the All-Conference Honorable Mention award and led our team in home runs. And, my sophomore year I received the All-Conference award, made the first All-Area team and led our team in home runs and RBIs. My junior year, although there wasn’t a high school season, I was All-Academic and I was picked to be on the Softball Factory All Region Team (Great Lakes) from a camp I went to in March of 2020, and I became a Semper Fidelis All American.
I’ve loved softball ever since I picked up my older brother’s baseball glove when I was 5 years old. My goal every time I take the field is to compete at the highest level I can while being the best possible teammate. Softball has been everything to me since my first glove and my love grows for it every time I pick my glove up today.
My coaches tell me that I’m a very coachable and hardworking person. I also pride myself in being an encouraging teammate and always picking them up when they make a mistake. I try my best to show empathy towards my teammates and make sure others show that too.
My goal is to play compete in the NCAA Division 1 softball level at a school with a strong Food Science/Nutrition College.
