Personal Statement
To me, softball is like a long-time friend. A constant within my life as a multitude of other sports have come and gone. With this friendship flourishing at only 5 years old, I’ve had lots of time to figure out my future aspirations regarding this sport. I envision myself playing at the college level within an institution that will hone my current skills, challenge me physically and function as an environment that would allow me to utilize their resources to increase my prospects as both a student and a player. As a player, I like to recognize my strengths as well as my weaknesses. I like to acknowledge my weaknesses as it allows for room to grow and acts as my incentive to work towards improving myself and building up my assets in various areas. Maybe I don’t pitch incredibly high speeds, but I have unpredictable movement pitches and nasty changeups that have tripped up some incredibly talented hitters. I pride myself on my accuracy in hitting the corners of plate and my off-speed pitches which provide varying degrees of speeds to keep hitters on their toes. I’m a player who’s not afraid to move, to back people up, to dive for the ball, and to remain as a reliable defense in the infield. I’m a perpetual source of encouragement for my team, a player who tries to keep the morale as high as possible at all times. Like softball, my academics remain another aspect of my life in which I take very seriously. My goals include obtaining a degree in global and international studies as well as studying foreign language. As a high-achieving student who deeply cares about their quality of education, I have my heart set on a school that would provide a curriculum that would help me accomplish my career goals as well as allow me to continue playing the sport I love.
