Dirt stained pants, cheek full of seeds, on your toes ready to go type of girl. I, Samantha Mulford am your next college softball player. You’re probably wondering why though.

I fell in love with softball the first time I walked onto the field during T-ball. Not knowing where to go, how to hold the bay or even how to stop drawing in the dirt. But as I grew up I fell in love with the adrenaline rush when you walk up the the batters box, when you are just waiting for the batter to hit the ball to you or even just the simple things as praying with my team before every game. Just many different things but that doesn’t make me the next best player. What makes me the next best player is my commitment, hardwork and leadership.

I have been playing 18u since I was twelve years old. When I saw my team that I was playing with I was truly scared. But thanks to them I  the softball player who I am today. Many people use cheesy quotes like “shoot for the stars”. Well I did, I have been selected out of many girls to be on a USA softball for my hardwork on and off the field. We will be going to the Dominican Republic this July. Many people would say my leadership skills are out of this world. Every year of high school I have been an officer, Vice President or president of atleast two organizations. I am very passionate about kids. I have been on 5 missions trips and in the process of planning my next. When I’m not at school or across the world. I’m at the softball fields. When I was 12 I was the “runt” of the team.  Now that I am the “big dog” I lead our team to success. My team is very young. But my team has hope In me while I was twelve so I will have hope in them. We may not win every game but I sure as heck make sure we leave with something we all did good. I am the light of the team while cheering in the dugout or playing on the field.
