Rhiannon Machuga '18 Recruiting Profile

I've had a passion for softball since I was 8 years old.  At first it was a way to hang out and have fun with my friends.  However, it quickly became something that I truly enjoyed.  At age 9 I started taking pitching lessons and worked hard with my coach and Dad to develop my pitching skills.  Softball has given me confidence in myself and has made me a team player. When I'm in the dugout I am consistently at the fence cheering on my teammates and really enjoy watching them and encouraging them.  When I started on the varsity team as a freshman, I earned the 1st baseman's position. First base is the position that I am most comfortable playing, but am flexible and willing to play other positions too.  I have also grown in my hitting ability and am currently batting third with a .370 average.  As I end my junior year and look forward to my future, I don't want my softball career to end after my senior year.  I believe that I can be an asset to a college team with my hard work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to continue building my softball skills.
